Our client, Hadean Energy presents an opportunity to work with global leaders in designing and developing electrochemical cells and materials systems. The position is located in Clayton, Victoria.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Electrochemist will play a key role in the design and development of electrochemical cells and materials systems, including product design (electrode and cell), documentation, laboratory experimentation, and critical analysis of results for implementation within Hadean Energy's electrolyser technology.

Key Responsibilities

* Work within the engineering team to develop electrolyser cell components, materials, and architectures
* Contribute to the design, manufacturing, testing, and development of electrochemical systems
* Apply expertise in electrochemistry and/or materials science to optimise product performance, durability, and cost
* Design and develop new experiments, formulations, materials, and system architectures
* Assemble and install experimental test setups in accordance with defined test plans
* Design and modify laboratory test rigs as required to support experimental programs
* Assist in the development and execution of test protocols to evaluate performance, lifetime, and robustness of cell and bundle components
* Collaborate with cross‐functional teams to define component specifications and communicate findings effectively
* Follow all safety protocols, including appropriate use of PPE
* Record experimental data accurately and maintain high‐quality documentation
* Communicate issues and insights effectively to support efficient operations
* Exercise sound independent judgement within core responsibilities
* Contribute positively to a collaborative, respectful, and high‐performing team environment

Qualifications

* Degree in Electrochemistry, Materials Science & Engineering, or a closely related discipline
* Ideally a minimum of 2+ years' relevant industry or research experience

Skills and Experience

* Strong foundational knowledge of electrochemistry or electrolysis systems
* Demonstrated experience in experimental design and execution
* Demonstrated experience in electrochemical diagnostic methods and equipment
* Experience operating laboratory test rigs and troubleshooting experimental systems
* Methodical approach to data collection, analysis, and interpretation
* High attention to detail and robust critical thinking skills
* Effective time management and organisational ability
* Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills
* Experience working with suppliers or external partners (desirable)
* Practical knowledge of laboratory safety and experimental best practices
* Self‐motivated with the ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
* Strong interpersonal skills and a clear interest in industrial research and development
