Petrob Contracting is a family run asphalt cartage business based in Chevallum on the Sunshine Coast. We are currently looking for local truck drivers with a HR licence or higher. We are always aiming to provide a safe, team oriented and positive workplace.
Petrob Contracting has been in the asphalt industry on the sunshine coast for over 20 years. We have a diverse fleet consisting of rigid and semi-trailer trucks with tipping and non-tipping bodies. We have a large range of well-established customers and work on private driveway projects, council overlay programs, highway refurbishments and highway or new road construction projects. Our work is predominantly on the Sunshine Coast and surrounding areas meaning you will be home each night.
About the job
We are seeking new team members for an immediate start to join our company as an Asphalt Truck Driver averaging 30hr per week.
The work will consist of a range of both day and night shift with rates paid at above the award minimum and reflect the shift you work. We aim to balance the work between all our drivers and do our best to accommodate driver preferences. If changing between day and night shift we allocate for at least a week at a time.
We expect that you will be able and willing to:
* Learn the operational style expected of Petrob Contracting drivers.
* Conduct daily truck prestart inspections and report any damages or defective items.
* Maintain a clean and presentable truck both on the interior and exterior.
* Drive varying trucks from 6-wheel rigid body trucks up to semi-trailers (if licence class allows) with both tipping and non-tipping bodies/trailers.
Typical daily operations that will be part of your roll include:
* Pick up asphalt from asphalt plants and deliver to job sites.
* Work and tip into asphalt pavers.
* Collect profiling's from profiling machines and deliver to dump or recycling areas.
* Pick up aggregates or other raw materials from various quarries and deliver to job sites.
About you
Previous construction, quarry or asphalt driving experience is desirable but not mandatory. We will provide on the job training to all successful applicants. This will be tailored to each individual person based on prior experience and witnessed competency.
You will need to have the following:
* Valid HR licence or higher
* General Construction Induction Card (mandatory or able to obtain prior to commencement)
* Neat appearance and a clean driving record
Random drug and alcohol testing is a requirement to succeed in this position and industry; these will be requested randomly by either us or our clients.

Pay: $32.00 – $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week
