About the Role
This is a part-time Paralegal position available at our Canberra office, requiring on-site presence for 1-2 days per week. As a Paralegal, you will provide administrative and legal assistance across various practice areas.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct thorough case law research, preparing detailed memorandums and briefs.
* Review documents to develop comprehensive chronologies.
* Offer support during workplace investigations, including reviewing interview transcripts, drafting allegations, preparing evidence matrices, and extracting relevant information for investigation reports.
* Compile and prepare well-documented briefs for counsel.
* Matter filing management involves saving, renaming, and organizing incoming documents into the appropriate matter files and folders, ensuring consistency and accessibility.
* Proofread documents for accuracy, grammar, and formatting consistency.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders via phone and email in a professional and personable manner.
* Provide comprehensive administrative support, including legal matter assistance, file organization, document retrieval, and accurate data entry.
* Support lawyers and senior legal staff with ad-hoc administrative and operational tasks as required.
About You
We welcome applications from law students currently in their third year or above of study.
Demonstrated skills in conducting research using LexisNexis, Westlaw, and Jade are essential.
An excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and Adobe software is necessary.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, spelling, and grammar are required.
Demonstrated time management and organizational skills are crucial.
Strong teamwork and attention to detail are also essential.
Administrative support experience is desired but not mandatory.
The ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion is vital.
A desire to learn and develop new skills is also beneficial.
A flexible, friendly, and approachable attitude is required.
