About the Role
This Therapeutic Family Violence Groups Facilitator is responsible for facilitating a range of group programmes with Aboriginal women, adolescents and children who are impacted by or have experienced family violence. The position will be involved in the design and delivery of new group programmes. The facilitator will contribute to the delivery of quality, culturally safe approaches to individuals and whole families as appropriate through applying VACCA's therapeutic framework and programme guide. Healing through Culture will underpin all aspects of the work.

* Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, and commitment to continually build knowledge of such
* Strong cultural knowledge and a commitment to supporting a culturally safe work environment
* Demonstrated understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people in contemporary Australia and the diversity of circumstances of Aboriginal people
* Experience in public speaking and confidence facilitating workshops with community and young people
* Advanced capacity to listen deeply and respond with compassion and respect to people experiencing difficulty
* Aptitude for teamwork and ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Strong organisational and administrative skills, including the ability to prioritise competing demands and operational requirements
* Proficiency in recording and reporting using client management systems and case documentation processes
* Ability to identify, assess and respond to risk using applicable frameworks
* A comprehensive understanding of the dynamics and impact of family violence in Aboriginal families
* A demonstrated ability to work therapeutically and sensitively with Aboriginal children, adolescents, women and/or men who are impacted by and/or perpetrators of family violence
Desirable
* Bachelor's degree in social work (or equivalent) or willingness to work toward the qualification in line with the mandatory minimum qualifications policy, or significant lived experience relevant to the work
* Experience in group co‐facilitation
* Experience working in an Aboriginal organisation or with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families or community
Requirements
* Valid Police Check
* Victorian Working with Children's Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain)
* Victorian Driver Licence
* Current COVID‐19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended)
