Technical, Advisory, and Capability

Team Downer
, which partners with
CASG
and
NSSG
as a major service provider to
Defence
. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across
Defence
and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a System Administrator in Canberra or Sydney to work on the Fleet Information Environment (FIE) Modernisation project.
What You'll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:
Mission-Critical IT Support
: Provide advanced technical support in deployed Defence environments, diagnosing and resolving complex issues promptly.
System Compliance & Maintenance
: Ensure ICT configurations meet Defence security protocols, patch and upgrade Minerva systems, and manage digital certificates.
Infrastructure & Operations Management
: Oversee messaging infrastructure in multi-forest environments, integrate and maintain ICT systems, and manage user accounts.
Documentation & Training
: Create SOPs, build guides, technical documentation, and mentor onsite staff, including ship CIS teams.
Incident & Vendor Coordination
: Manage incident priorities to meet SLAs, collaborate with partner teams, and engage vendors to resolve system/component issues.
What You'll Bring
Core Technical Expertise
: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Skype, Citrix Virtual Desktop, and hypervisor administration.
Additional Systems Experience
: Hands-on familiarity with XMPP chat tools, Lotus Domino, and VoIP technologies.
Communication Strengths
: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
Broader Technical Exposure
: Experience or familiarity with Fortinet, Cisco, HYCU, Titus, Liquidware, Ivanti, Red Hat, Tanium, Netbox, Carbon Black, and Elastic Monitoring.
Professional Attributes
: Proactive problem-solving, ability to manage multiple priorities, prior Minerva experience, and capability to operate in secure, regulated environments.
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum
Negative Vetting 2
or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
