Lead national operations, drive strategy and deliver safe, profitable project outcomes across a growing Aboriginal-owned engineering and construction business.
Our client is a majority Aboriginal-owned and Supply Nation certified business delivering engineering, construction, civil and infrastructure projects across Australia. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead business operations and drive strategic success.
This pivotal leadership role works closely with the Board and executive stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely to client specifications and with strong financial performance. The General Manager will shape long-term strategy, foster a high-performance culture and position the organisation for sustained growth nationally.
The role requires extensive senior leadership experience within engineering, mining, energy, building or construction sectors, supported by strong commercial acumen, operational oversight capability and a demonstrated history of successful project delivery. It could be an Ops Manager running a large business looking for a step up to General Manager or an out and out General Manager.
The business revenue is circa $110m+ and growing with projects from smaller up to $60m+ and projects across mostly WA and NT with some work in QLD, SA and a few other regions as well and the role is a National role. Projects cover new build, fit-out, refurb, civil works, utility infrastructure etc with a majority of defence work undertaken as well as some commercial/industrial work with a mix of self-perform and subcontract opportunities.
Candidates could be based out of Perth, Darwin or Brisbane offices. There will be some travel involved in the role.

Strategic Leadership & Governance

* Leading national operations to ensure safe, compliant and profitable project delivery

* Establishing and managing budgets and forecasts, securing revenue and mitigating risk
* Developing and refining operational systems, policies and procedures for continuous improvement
* Maintaining Supply Nation Accreditation compliance in partnership with the Board
Business Development & Growth
* Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients
* Strengthening pre-contracts capability and commercial positioning
* Supporting long-term pipeline development across defence, mining, energy and infrastructure sectors
Workforce Leadership & Culture
* Engaging and motivating a growing Australia-wide workforce
* Creating succession strategies and building leadership capability across all levels
* Mentoring senior managers and fostering strong management and commercial acumen
* Championing a safety-first culture exceeding regulatory and Defence compliance requirements
Qualifications and Requirements:
* Tertiary qualifications in Engineering and/or Construction/Project Management
* MBA (desirable)
* Extensive experience in a senior leadership role within a similar industry
* Strong operational and commercial management background
* Demonstrated success in business development and project delivery
* Industry experience across mining, building, energy and/or construction sectors
* Exceptional interpersonal, stakeholder engagement and mentoring skills
* Commitment to increasing employment and supply chain opportunities for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people nationally
* Current Driver’s Licence
* Police Clearance
