The Role: A 6-month fixed term, full-time position available from November 2025 – January 2026 with possible extension till April, based at the Puckapunyal Military Base.
Key Responsibilities:
* Respond to initial bushfire responses.
* Maintain and operate live-fire target equipment.
* Ensure adherence to range standing orders, reporting breaches immediately.
* Participate in land management activities, including grass cutting, weed spraying, and mapping.
* Assist the Range Supervisor with HSE site inspections, job analysis, and safety observations.
Requirements:
* Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Able to operate tools specific to range operations and maintenance processes.
* Experience in radio communication, handheld and vehicle-mounted radios.
* Highly competent in map-to-ground navigation from a vehicle.
* Manual car driver's license and medium rigid (MR) or heavy rigid (HR) heavy vehicle licenses.
* Certificate in First Aid desirable.
Firefighting qualifications required:
* Work in a team.
* Prevent injury.
* Respond to wildfires.
* Operate communication systems and equipment.
