GSG Laboratories is a 100% Australian-owned and operated geotechnical, environmental and agricultural testing and drilling company. Established in 1986 in Hervey Bay, we bring decades of local knowledge and hands‐on experience across Queensland and New South Wales. Our teams support major infrastructure and development projects through high‐quality geotechnical and environmental testing, while also working closely with the agricultural sector to deliver reliable soil, water, crop and nutrient analysis that helps farmers and agribusinesses make informed decisions. Across every industry we serve, our testing plays a critical role in safety, performance and long‐term sustainability. With flexible work‐base options between Brisbane and the Wide Bay region, we are seeking an experienced, organised, and motivated Business Development Manager to join our leadership team.
About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving sales performance, market growth, and profitability across all GSG Laboratories sites. This role will play a key part in expanding our footprint across existing and emerging service lines, including our Environmental Testing division. Key focus areas include:
* Developing and executing strategic business development plans
* Expanding relationships with key clients and industry partners
* Identifying new market opportunities across construction materials testing, geotechnical drilling, and environmental testing
* Managing major account portfolios and tender opportunities
* Supporting commercial decision‐making to achieve revenue and margin targets
About You
To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally bring:
* Previous experience in a sales or business development capacity within construction materials testing, geotechnical drilling, quarry aggregates, concrete, or the broader construction sector
* A proven track record managing significant client portfolios and winning new business
* Strong commercial and financial acumen
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‐building skills
* The ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects
* Confidence making decisions in a fast‐paced operational environment

Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to Work Smart, Work Safe principles and comply with all relevant business and legislative OHS&E requirements. This role includes regular travel across Regional Queensland and Regional New South Wales. Applicants based on the Sunshine Coast and in the Wide Bay region are encouraged to apply, as this position offers flexibility in work location.
