Connect APAC are delighted to partner with a leading, Australian Full Service Distribution Company in their search for a Category Manager. The organisation represents some of the world's finest FMCG brands across categories such as Food, Beverages and Personal Care within the ANZ market. This hybrid role combines category management, supplier management, and trade marketing. Reporting to the Head of Category, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing supplier relationships, analyzing data for key insights, and driving brand growth in the Australian market.
Key Responsibilities: Act as the organisation's Supplier Manager, fostering a hands-on relationship with your supplier's business development and marketing teams. Develop a deep understanding of supplier operations within the business. Address supplier inquiries across various departments, covering areas such as Sales performance and forecasting (PO & ExF), Range reviews and insights, pricing strategies and margin considerations, Inventory levels, MOQs, and supply chain processes and marketing, promotions, and trade spend (TTS & BMI). Source and manage necessary inputs for retailer reviews, brand plans, JBP agreements, and workshop presentations, including samples, imagery, marketing plans, overseas insights, and NPD information. Lead and coordinate key projects to deliver retailer reviews, JBP agreements, business updates, and best-in-class retail execution. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless execution. Become the category expert, with in-depth knowledge of brands, competitors, and market trends. Work closely with the sales team and the supplier's marketing team to develop data-driven strategies that drive retail sales and brand growth. Formalize, track, and optimize brand plans throughout the year, adjusting strategies as needed. Use Excel, Power BI, IRI, NielsenIQ, and other data sources to analyze performance and identify opportunities. Develop and deliver best-in-class presentations for JBP meetings, retailer reviews, and supplier updates (MBRs). Develop and execute effective promotional programs in collaboration with the sales team. Oversee claims management, ensuring all Co-Op, TTS, and BMI expenditures are accurately tracked and recovered. Key Requirements: Experience in either an FMCG Supplier or Retailer in a Category Manager, Buyer, Trade Marketing or even National Account Management. Advanced Excel, IRI, NielsenIQ, Quantium Data Analysis and Powerpoint Skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable presenting. Proven experience analysing and leveraging data for powerful insights. Track record of delivery and ability to work autonomously, always taking initiative.
