We are currently seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join the Sydney team of our esteemed client, a renowned provider of specialized Geotechnical & Geological Instrumentation tools and services. With expertise in the installation and monitoring of structural, environmental, and geotechnical instrumentation for assets in various domains such as civil engineering, mining, railway, and road infrastructure, our client is dedicated to delivering exceptional solutions.
The Technical Manager role is predominately an office-based role (Sydney or Melbourne) that reports to the National Manager. The Technical Manager is a department head and daily tasks include oversite of project execution, data services, new technologies and rectification of product non-conformances.
From time to time, involvement in the acquisition of project work and training of personnel may be required. Occasional interstate and international travel may also be required to meet with clients and suppliers.
The role is key to ensuring the continued innovation of the company, ensuring the highest level of service quality is delivered with a strong focus on Health and Safety. Success in the role includes the implementation of new business systems and processes as well as improvement to existing ones that produce significant hard or soft savings to the growing company.
**RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**:
- Assist with ISO quality certification reviews.
- People assignments - work with the Project Managers to assign Data Technician resources.
- HR Reviews of direct reports
- From time to time the role may be required to assist the sales and sales/marketing function by preparation and attendance of trade shows and exhibitions as a company representative.
**RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES CONTINUED**:
- Identify and monitor KPI metrics relevant to the job function and company.
- Maintain the quality management system and business processes as required. Autonomy to suggest and implement new processes and systems.
- Provide leadership in HSE and Quality functions, adhering to our HSEQ standards and guidelines at all times.
- Proactively liaising and engaging new and existing suppliers, subcontractors, clients and asset owners to ensure execution engineering scope of work is completed on time and in budget. Develop project budgets, cost and time saving initiatives.
- Mentor and grow the capabilities of employees such as Data Technicians, including signing off competency records.
- Promote the companies' products and services wherever possible. Identifying and developing new opportunities with clients.
- General business operations: as part of a growing business you are involved in all aspects of operations and required to follow all policies, procedures and guidelines.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Trade or Tertiary Qualification in Engineering, Science, Mining, Construction or Business Background (i.e. Civil Engineering / Environmental / Physical Geography / Geology / Electrical / Instrumentation / Automation Background) or related.
- Knowledge of construction methods and practices and experience with Geotechnical and complimentary instrumentation, experience with borehole drilling techniques and methods and knowledge of geotechnical testing practices.
- Good computer literacy - word, excel and outlook, CRM and ERPs (Office 365, QuickBooks, Insightly, Inventory SOS etc.).
- Previous software development experience an advantage.
- Good organisational, communication and administrative skills. Strong team member, diligent and supportive. Motivated and enthusiastic to learn new skills. Detailed and quality driven. Willing to take on responsibility. Ability to flourish with mínimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty.
- Demonstrated awareness of contributing to a safe working environment.
- Generally work standard office hours, but flexible with regards to roles and working hours and willingness to travel to meet potential customers, operational needs, site inspections etc.
- Valid Driver's License, Construction White Card, First Aid Certificate, Rail Industry Worker Card.

This position can be based from Sydney or Melbourne (ideally Sydney) and can support hybrid working arrangements.
