About Morning Edition Newsletter Editor Role

The role of a Morning Edition Newsletter Editor is to create and curate a comprehensive, concise, and highly readable summary of the day's news, feature stories, and opinion pieces. This involves selecting stories that represent news value, reader interest, and the mastheads' values.

Main Responsibilities:

* Curate the Morning Edition Newsletter: Selecting relevant content that showcases the breadth of coverage and highlights the brand authority.
* Edit the Newsletter Content: Writing insightful, engaging, and sharp summaries of the top stories, ensuring related content is packaged effectively.
* Keep Across Multiple Sources: Tracking print editions, online homepages, internal runsheets, and evening newsletters to inform editing decisions.
* Track Audience Data: Monitoring and analyzing audience data for the Morning Edition to ensure it meets diverse audience needs.
* Ensure Brand Representation: Displaying the breadth of coverage and showcasing brand authority through the newsletter.

Requirements:

* Extensive Journalistic Experience: In a daily newsroom with a clear understanding of news judgment.
* Critical Thinking and Writing Skills: A strong writing style, excellent proof-reading skills, and impeccable news judgment.
* Autonomy and Decision Making: Ability to work independently with high degree autonomy and confidence in making decisions regarding defamation law, contempt of court, and other legal considerations.
