Job Description:
* Support the care and maintenance of an avian collection, focusing on species conservation and research.
* Develop and implement effective communication strategies to enhance public awareness and engagement.
* Create avian programs aligned with species recovery plans and international best practices.
Responsibilities:
* Maintain the daily care and well-being of the Avian collection.
* Provide relief coverage for other bird collections as needed.
* Ensure facilities are clean and well-maintained, including regular cleaning and minor repairs.
* Collaborate with the Animal Care Department on procedures and projects.
* Attend Species Recovery Team meetings and assist the Avian Curator with report preparation and data management.
* Support the Animal Health Department with daily treatments and medical procedures.
* Provide training and mentorship opportunities for avian interns and volunteers.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Biology, Zoology, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a professional avian setting.
* Desirable: Experience working with galliformes and expertise in artificial incubation techniques.
* Possess strong analytical skills and familiarity with database management software.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
Work Requirements:
This role typically requires a 5-day workweek, with flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.
