Description DNV Maritime Region Southeast Asia, Pacific & India is seeking a marine surveyor to join our Fleet in Service (FIS) team in Melbourne Australia. A qualified marine surveyor/auditor will be a team member of a highly qualified team of surveyors and auditors surveying various ship types across Australian and New Zealand Ports. Tasks may include Ensure that the work or duties performed are in accordance with the rules, regulations, instructions, guidelines, and quality requirements of DNV Perform classification surveys and audits as per DNV procedure and guidelines, liaise with Port and Flag states as necessary. Maintain the confidentiality of clients' business, processes, designs, developments, and documentation When applicable, to supervise the work of others and ensure that it is carried out as above and in an efficient and economic manner. Communicate to line management at the earliest appropriate opportunity if in receipt of information that is important to the reputation for integrity of DNV Exhibit customer-oriented focus through promoting DNV onboard or on-site and by acting as a technical resource for customer questions. Social activities: To foster our culture, we enjoy regular social get togethers. *Benefits may vary based on position, tenure/contract/grade level* Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering from a recognized institute or Class-I Marine Engineer certificate of competency or equivalent A good understanding of maritime and offshore business with a minimum 5 years of experience in the maritime and classification industry, ideally with both survey and audit experience. Flexibility in travelling and solid willingness to take unscheduled job calls when required Strong customer service orientation and proven record of managing maritime clients Good understanding of class and statutory requirements Proven ability to effectively manage digitalization and new business opportunities Team player but able to work independently on surveys Physical abilities necessary to perform regular classification functions, including voyage surveys, sea trials and attendance in the anchorage etc. Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Security and compliance with statutory requirements in the countries in which we operate is essential for DNV.
