The opportunity & how you will make an impact.

Shaping tomorrow's cities and communities begins with planning. We provide holistic strategic advice for the public and private sector to understand the full spectrum of planning.

Our planners are the most experienced and awarded in the country guiding projects from vision to approval and beyond. As a Senior Consultant, every day is different! You'll make an impact by :

* Providing a broad range of planning services including strategic and statutory advice relating to land use, planning policy, strategic plans, development capability, due diligence assessments, master plans, the approval process and management
* Collaborate with internal and external multidisciplinary teams, including specialists in the fields of economics, urban design, transport, infrastructure advisory, community planning and stakeholder engagement.
* Linking policy settings, demographic trends and systems to bring broader context and appreciation to projects and tasks
* Writing submissions, proposals and advice that accurately reflects the client's needs
* Working alongside other professionals on a range of multi-disciplinary projects, working to specification, to deadlines, within budget and with a commercial outcome
* Coaching and developing individuals with the team, as appropriate

About you.

* A tertiary qualification in Urban / Town Planning or a closely related discipline along with ideally 5 years of relevant experience gained in a consultancy or local / State government environment
* Demonstrated strong technical understanding of statutory planning frameworks, controls and processes
* Detailed understanding of policy implementation through planning schemes. Queensland based experience is preferred but candidates can demonstrate skills in other planning jurisdictions.
* An ability to be proactive and take initiative in order meet project and client demands
* Proven track record of managing projects and mentoring team members
* Strong communication skills with the ability to distil complex situations with clarity and articulate a compelling narrative, both in written communications and verbally
* A collaborative mindset, to bring out the best in yourself and others while bringing new thinking to Urbis and our clients
