The Role
This is a strategic senior leadership position reporting directly to the General Manager. Acting as their 2IC, you will play a key role in shaping the business strategy and supporting the continued growth of the QLD business unit.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading contract negotiations, procurement strategies, and subcontractor agreements
- Identifying and driving business development and strategic growth opportunities in the market
- Managing budgets, forecasting, and cost reporting across the project portfolio
- Overseeing variation management, claims resolution, and contract risk mitigation
- Providing commercial insight and strategic advice to project and executive teams
- Ensuring compliance with relevant quality, safety, and financial standards
- Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders
- Mentoring, developing, and supporting commercial staff to achieve their full potential
About You
You will bring a strong mix of technical expertise and leadership capability, along with a passion for business growth and team development.
- Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of commercial leadership experience within the commercial construction sector
- Proven ability to manage P&L;, negotiate contracts, assess risk, and implement commercial strategies
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to influence project and client outcomes
- Highly organised, commercially astute, and focused on margin protection and delivery excellence
