Senior Structural Engineer
As a senior structural engineer, you will lead civil/structural engineering works, including plans, designs, and constructability reviews for the project team. This position is part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project.
* Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the civil/structural engineering work for a global business unit, a project, or staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings, and specifications
* Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates civil/structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs), and Design Control Check List (DCCL)
* Designs structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis
* Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements
* Originates and checks complex structural engineering deliverables
* Analyses problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas, and possible solutions
* Analyses and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques, and/or difficult coordination requirements
* Plans, coordinates, or prepares equipment, work, and material specifications, bid evaluations, and award recommendations
* Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations
* Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project civil/structural requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience. They will be considered highly skilled and proficient in structural engineering discipline, seasoned, and experienced professionals with a full understanding of the area of specialization, resolving a wide range of issues in creative ways.
