Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Homelessness Support Specialist to join our team.

As a key member of our support staff, you will be responsible for providing essential services to individuals experiencing homelessness, including temporary accommodation, case management, and crisis intervention.

You will work closely with program staff to ensure the continuity of safety and security for residents, as well as assist with administrative tasks to provide end-of-shift handovers, incident reporting, and support to program staff.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work unsupervised shifts, and possess an understanding of working with people experiencing homelessness or complex needs. They will also be able to work collaboratively with key stakeholders and actively monitor site activities.

Responsibilities:

* Provide support to residents, including replacing security keys
* Undertake checks on the property, monitor on-site activities, and implement emergency response protocols
* Use technology to support site and resident safety
* Undertake administrative duties to provide end-of-shift handovers, incident reporting, and support to program staff

Requirements:

* Diploma of Community Services, Social Work Degree, or similar qualification
* Relevant experience working in the homelessness or related sector/industry
* Ability to work on a rotating shift basis, including active night and weekend shifts
* Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people and provide relevant and accurate information to stakeholders
* Demonstrated emergency or crisis response experience along with a mature, compassionate, common-sense approach to working with people with complex needs
