Your new role
As a ServiceNow Engineer, you will be the organisation's technical lead for building, improving, and supporting the ServiceNow platform. ServiceNow underpins a growing number of CFA's digital services and internal processes, and this role supports the ongoing development and reliability of the platform. The role sits within ICT and works closely with business areas, process owners, architects, and delivery partners to design practical, reliable solutions that meet operational needs.
You will develop and maintain digital workflows, forms, automations, and integrations using ServiceNow's configuration tools and scripted components. It also supports the expansion of ServiceNow beyond IT functions into areas such as HR, Facilities, Property, Security Operations, and Governance, Risk and Compliance.
You will ensure that the platform is stable, secure, and scalable, and provide guidance on good design, data practices, and re-use of existing components. It contributes to ongoing platform uplift by improving development practices, simplifying processes, and helping teams make better use of self-service and automation.
Role and responsibilities:
* Configure and enhance ServiceNow applications, workflows, forms, and automation using Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, client/server scripting and other platform tools.
* Build reusable components that support practical, reliable solutions across business areas.
* Build and maintain integrations with enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, Microsoft 365, Azure AD) using approved patterns, APIs and IntegrationHub.
* Support accurate data models and contribute to the organisation's service and data fabric.
* Maintain platform stability, security and performance through monitoring, patching, upgrades and incident/defect resolution.
* Manage update sets, source control, release packaging and deployment pipelines consistent with established standards.
* Configure ServiceNow in line with security, Role Based access control (RBAC) and architecture requirements and maintain documentation and audit trails to support compliance and risk management.
* Work with service owners, ICT teams and delivery partners to understand needs and design practical ServiceNow solutions that improve processes and reduce manual effort.
* Provide technical guidance to support consistent use of ServiceNow across teams.
What you need to succeed
* Proven experience configuring and enhancing ServiceNow applications, workflows, forms, and automations using Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, and client/server scripting.
* Ability to design and maintain integrations with enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, Microsoft 365, Azure AD) using APIs and approved patterns.
* Knowledge of security principles, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), compliance requirements, and best practices for maintaining stability, scalability, and performance.
* Experience building reusable components and practical solutions that improve processes and reduce manual effort across diverse business areas.
* Familiarity with accurate data modelling and contributing to service and data fabric for reliable reporting and automation.
* Skills in managing update sets, source control, release packaging, and deployment pipelines aligned with established standards.
* Ability to work closely with service owners, ICT teams, architects, and delivery partners to understand needs and translate them into effective ServiceNow solutions.
* A proactive approach to platform uplift, improving development practices, simplifying processes, and enabling self-service and automation.
