Our Internal Audit and Integrity team are currently seeking experienced professionals to join as a Senior Internal Auditor and Principal Internal Auditor.
The roles are permanent, full-time and can be based at any of our major locations – Brisbane, Toowoomba, Maryborough, Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville or Cairns .
The team specialises in two primary internal audit streams – IT and finance – so it’s vital candidates hold expertise in one or both of these areas.
The Senior Internal Auditor will focus largely on IT related processes, and the Principal Internal Auditor on finance and commercial processes.

About your new Senior Internal Auditor role:
As a Senior Internal Auditor specialising in IT risk, you work closely with the Principal Internal Auditor and the Internal Audit Manager to effectively plan, conduct and complete internal audit engagements.
Your day involves conducting comprehensive internal audits from start to finish, guided by senior experts, ensuring thorough examination and evaluation.
You assist in the scoping and planning of audit activities, draft detailed audit reports, present your findings to relevant stakeholders, collaborate with management to agree on corrective actions, and monitor the implementation of audit recommendations ensuring timely resolution in accordance with the Global Internal Audit Standards.
You play a key role in delivering third line of defence services, providing independent advice and appraisals across the business on the effectiveness and compliance of control systems.
Your contributions are essential in maintaining robust and compliant control systems throughout EQL.
The remuneration for your new role starts from $159k plus 12.75% super for a 10-day fortnight.
You also have the option of a 9-day fortnight with salary adjustments if you’re seeking greater work life balance.
About your new Principal Internal Auditor role:
As a Principal Internal Auditor specialising in financial and commercial risk, you lead the end-to-end internal audit process, working independently to ensure compliance with policies, processes, and internal control frameworks.
Your day involves planning, performing and leading internal audit activities from start to finish, leading co-sourced or contractor engagements, and providing expert coaching and guidance to the Senior Internal Auditor and wider team.
You write comprehensive audit reports, negotiate outcomes to address risks identified, drive the development of the internal audit strategy, and supervise internal audit and advisory engagements conducted by external specialists in accordance with the Global Internal Audit Standards.
Building strong professional networks across the business, your internal audit expertise and leadership promotes efficiency and continuous improvement of business controls, ensuring our operations adhere to the highest standards of integrity, compliance and ethics.
The remuneration for your new role starts from $186k plus 12.75% super for a 10-day fortnight.
You also have the option of a 9-day fortnight with salary adjustments if you’re seeking greater work life balance.

About you:
Senior Internal Auditor
With a specialisation in IT, you bring a minimum of 3-7 years of internal audit experience to the table.
You have a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline and hold one of the following professional certifications (or equivalent) :
- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
- Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
Principal Internal Auditor
With a specialisation in finance and commerce, you bring a minimum of 5-10 years of internal audit experience to the table.
You have a degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business or a related discipline and hold one of the following professional certifications (or equivalent) :
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
- Chartered Accountant (CA)
- Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA)
Both Roles
You have a solid understanding of corporate governance, compliance, internal control, Global Internal Audit Standards, integrity, fraud, and risk management practices .
Your experience in large and complex organisations, particularly in the professional services, public sector, or energy and natural resources industries is highly desirable and sets you apart from other candidates.
Your communication skills – written, verbal, and interpersonal – are exceptional.
You excel at establishing and maintaining open and honest relationships, and your ability to influence and negotiate effectively enables you to drive positive change.
Your integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality are vital in these roles.
You have a keen eye for detail and are dedicated to delivering quality work and outcomes.
Your strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills enable you to effectively analyse complex issues and prepare reports and presentations that clearly articulate issues, required actions, and proposed solutions.
While you are comfortable working autonomously, you also thrive in a high-performance team environment.
