Overview
ESNEFT is one of the largest radiotherapy providers in the East of England, delivering treatments to over 3000 patients per year across Ipswich and Colchester sites. Ipswich Hospital are looking for a Clinical Scientist in Radiotherapy.
You will be expected to participate in a broad range of radiotherapy physics activities including quality assurance of radiotherapy treatment equipment, treatment planning, and providing assistance with computing throughout the department. You will work closely with colleagues within our multi-disciplinary team of physicists, engineers, radiographers and clinicians. Ipswich Hospital is equipped with 3 TrueBeam multi-modality linear accelerators routinely delivering VMAT, FFF and SABR techniques, and an Ethos linear accelerator with Hypersight imaging. The department has a virtual Aria environment utilising the Varian cloud solution, and treatment plans are produced using the Eclipse treatment planning system. We have a Phillips Big Bore CT scanner with TumorLoc virtual simulation system and AI volume delineation and dedicated MR scanning slots for radiotherapy. We work closely with nuclear medicine to deliver a molecular radiotherapy service.
You will also participate in research and development activity.
Responsibilities
- Participate in a broad range of radiotherapy physics activities including quality assurance of radiotherapy treatment equipment, treatment planning and providing assistance with computing throughout the department.
- Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of physicists, engineers, radiographers and clinicians.
- Assist in the provision of the Radiotherapy Physics Service (external beam radiotherapy and molecular radiotherapy) at Ipswich Hospital under the overall responsibility of the Lead for Radiotherapy Physics and the Head of Radiation Services.
- Participate in research and development activity.
Qualifications
- Honours degree in physics with relevant postgraduate experience, preferably including a higher degree.
- Ideally HCPC state registered as a Clinical Scientist; however, if you are eligible for registration within 6 months of taking the position you are encouraged to apply.
