HEW 6 | Full-Time | 3 month initial assignment
We’re seeking a skilled Technical Officer to support teaching and research in food and process chemistry. You’ll manage lab operations, maintain equipment, and ensure a safe and compliant environment.
Key Duties
Protected handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals (WHS, MSDS, GHS)
Maintain and calibrate lab equipment:
Tensiometers
Gas Chromatography (GC)
Rotary Evaporators
Vacuum Ovens
Fluorometers
Deliver inductions, SOPs, safety briefings, and hands-on training
Oversee laser safety (Class 3 & 4), equipment use, and lab protocols
Manage lab scheduling, inventory, and chemical waste
Assist with upgrades, risk assessments, and stakeholder communication
About You
Degree in Chemistry or higher qualifications in Analytical Chemistry/ Chemistry or a related discipline and relevant experience.
Strong lab and technical experience
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Able to train users and maintain safety standards
Working With Children Check required
