About our Client: Our client operates on one of the world's largest zinc and lead deposits, located approximately 970 kilometres south-east of Darwin.
We're seeking a Drilling Advisor for our production mining team who brings the right balance of people and operational skills to join our team as a frontline leader. In this role, you will assist in managing and coordinating the safe and efficient operation of the production drilling contractor to achieve production targets.
About the Role:
* 5 days on / 2 days off roster to start. Roster may transition to 4 days on / 3 days off roster. Ideal candidate to be flexible with roster options.
* 12-hour shifts
* FIFO from Darwin only (interstate flights not included)
* 6 Month contract
* Potential for permanency
* Open pit, drill & blast crew
Key Responsibilities:
* Safety & Environmental Leadership: Uphold strong safety and environmental leadership by reinforcing adherence to Glencore's Fatal Hazard Protocols and Life-Saving Behaviours, while ensuring compliance with MRM's policies, standards, and procedures.
* Risk Management: Identify potential risks in drilling operations and implement effective strategies to mitigate these risks.
* Coordination of Drilling Activities: Collaborate with the owner's production team and manage contract drilling and maintenance to ensure efficient drilling processes.
* Production Management: Oversee drilling activities to meet production targets, ensuring alignment with operational goals and safety standards
* Resource Optimisation: Optimise the use of personnel, equipment, and materials to enhance drilling efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
* Performance Monitoring: Develop and implement systems to track performance metrics and operational data, facilitating continuous improvement and compliance with established plans.
* Collaboration: Foster strong working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, including contractors, to ensure seamless project execution.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* A strong commitment to promoting safety, effective risk management, and a continuous improvement ethos, with a focus on cultivating a safety-first culture.
* Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards in the industry.
* Extensive experience in drilling operations and maintenance, in a mining environment.
* Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate drilling contractors.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
* Proven ability to analyse data and make informed decisions to drive performance improvements.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
* A valid driver's licence
* White Card
* The ability to pass a full pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening
* Darwin Based or must be willing to pay for your own interstate flights – these are not included
* Must be clean shaven
