Empowering Women and Children Through Life-Changing Legal Support
This role involves providing high-quality legal advice and representation in civil and criminal law matters, including representing clients in courts and tribunals, and delivering legal support to women who have been criminalised.
* Providing expert legal advice and representation in complex civil and criminal law cases
* Representing clients in a range of courts and tribunals, from the Magistrates Court to higher jurisdictional bodies
* Delivering tailored legal support to women who have been affected by the justice system
* Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive services that meet the diverse needs of our clients
The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor of Laws degree and be eligible for a Practising Certificate in the Northern Territory. Essential qualifications include experience in civil or criminal law, as well as an understanding of Domestic and Family Violence and trauma-informed practice.
Additional skills and background that will be highly valued include:
* Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
* Knowledge of general civil law matters, particularly those related to Domestic and Family Violence
* Prior experience in Community Legal Centres
* A strong understanding of legal, economic, and social issues affecting women in Central Australia
