Senior Electrical Engineer – High Voltage (HV)

Our client, a leading organisation in the renewable energy and power infrastructure sector, is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer (HV) to support the design and delivery of complex grid-connected and renewable energy projects. This position sits within the engineering team and plays a central role in shaping electrical design outcomes across solar, battery energy storage, and substation developments.
Role Overview
The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for engineering design, coordination, and technical oversight of medium- and high-voltage systems. The role involves working closely with internal specialists, external stakeholders, and project partners to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality engineering solutions throughout all project stages.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and review LV, MV, and HV electrical designs including SLDs, schematics, layouts, and cable documentation.
* Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs to integrate solar PV, BESS, and substation systems with grid connection requirements.
* Undertake electrical studies such as load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, and associated analysis.
* Prepare high-quality technical reports, specifications, datasheets, and engineering deliverables.
* Support procurement processes including equipment selection, supplier evaluation, and technical clarifications.
* Provide design and technical input during construction to ensure compliance, constructability, and issue resolution.
* Contribute to FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities, ensuring installation quality and system performance.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Electrical Engineering (postgraduate qualifications viewed favourably).
* Approx. 8+ years' experience in electrical design within power generation, substations, transmission/distribution, or renewable energy projects.
* Experience with HV, solar, or BESS projects beneficial but not essential.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, or comparable design/modelling tools.
* Strong understanding of applicable AS/NZS, IEC, and IEEE standards.
* Excellent technical writing and communication abilities.
* Chartered status (CPEng, RPEQ) or working towards accreditation is an advantage.
