About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Caseworker. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people.
The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing prospective carers for suitability and maintaining a pool of authorized carers through recruitment, assessment, and training. This role requires strong communication skills, ability to work autonomously, and meet strict timeframes.
Core Focus
The core focus of this role is to ensure that children and young people in care are provided with a safe and nurturing environment. This involves developing strategies to attract and engage potential foster carers, coordinating initial and ongoing training, and conducting comprehensive assessments.
A typical day may include:
* Developing recruitment strategies to attract and engage potential foster carers.
* Coordinating the initial and ongoing training for foster carers, including creating development plans and conducting comprehensive assessment reports.
* Maintaining required database records and responding to placement referrals.
* Engaging with local communities at various events to promote the organization's brand.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
* A degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent experience working with children and young people.
* Demonstrated understanding of the issues facing vulnerable children and their families.
* Previous experience in a related or similar role.
* Sound interpersonal, facilitation, training, and conflict resolution skills.
* Demonstrated experience in engaging, establishing, and maintaining effective community networks.
* Demonstrated high-level verbal and written communication skills.
* Advanced computer literacy, including familiarity with client management systems.
* Previous experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons.
