Primary objective

Plan, co-ordinate and manage the ongoing operation and support of major corporate Data Warehouse Systems and provide

strategic advice to senior management regarding data warehousing.

Context statement

Digital Project Services (DPS) delivers very complex, high value, and high-risk digital programs and multi-year digital transformation

initiatives for core frontline services through an inter-agency collaborative approach. Working closely with the client Agencies, the

team comprises of public sector employees and contractors working together to deliver multiple streams of activity as programs

are implemented. The work environment is dynamic, fast-paced and results driven with high expectations of superior service

delivery. The Data Warehouse function sits within Data Services and more broadly, the Department of Corporate and Digital

Development, Digital Services team. It comprises a number of smaller teams that support different government agencies.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Principal responsibility for leadership and management of Data Warehouse teams to ensure they meets stated goals and to

provide technical supervision of staff responsible for data management, data modelling and data standardisation.

2. Manage existing and new initiatives to establish the required technical infrastructure, system administration and security

management services and information architecture to support effective information management ensuring that the data

warehouse continues to meet the Department's strategic information requirements.

1. Provide training and support services and establish and manage relationships with internal and external clients.
2. Maintain the Department's relationship with external vendors in relation to new and existing systems software procurement,

implementation, licensing, upgrades and enhancements.

5. Develop and implement policies, procedures and standards for effective information management, including privacy,

confidentiality and data security to ensure protection of client's rights.

6. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Extensive knowledge of data warehousing concepts, software, modelling techniques and implementation processes.

2. Experience in leading and managing a team of professional staff and financial and physical resources.

3. Extensive experience in project initiation and management practices.

4. Extensive knowledge of database management, security and administration.

1. Extensive experience in managing relationships with external vendors in relation to new and existing systems software

procurement, implementation, licensing, upgrades and enhancement.

6. An ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures.

7. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates the Department's values of professionalism, accountability, honesty,

innovation and respectfulness

Desirable

1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Data related field of study
