About Us
The Capability branch is in the State Schools Strategy Division. The Capability branch is committed to a thriving and capable workforce equipped with the skills and confidence to support every student to realise their potential. A key part of the Capability branch is the Education Futures Institute (EFI) that delivers high-quality, evidence-informed and equitable capability development for a diverse workforce across key career stages.
The EFI provides high quality, targeted professional learning for staff located in metropolitan, regional, rural and remote locations across the state. The EFI empowers staff with the skills, knowledge and capability to excel in their role.
Key responsibilities
The Senior Education Officer will provide targeted skilled support to multilevel school contexts that deliver K-6 curriculum by:

* Building school leader and teacher capability in systematic curriculum delivery for students in multilevel school contexts aligned to school improvement priorities and performance planning
* Supporting school leaders and teachers to deliver effective and differentiated pedagogical approaches appropriate to multilevel school contexts aligned to the Australian Curriculum v9 and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines.
* Providing current educational research, evidenced based practices and effective use of available technology to lead and support school teams with the aim of improving student outcomes.
* Collaborating with EFI and cross-regional teams to share practice, data insights, and strategies that enhance regional consistency and capability.

The successful applicant are individuals who demonstrate:

* Deep expertise in K-6 curriculum; including a strong understanding of the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines.
* Designing, delivering and monitoring strategies to help school leaders plan and implement effective K-6 curriculum planning. This includes facilitating change and providing training and support for system and school leaders, teachers and other school staff, both in-person and online, in groups and individually.
* Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to provide professional development, guidance and support to school leaders and teachers on K-6 multilevel education delivery aligned to statewide frameworks, procedures and Processes, and the required curriculum for all students.
* High-level commitment to professional development and the best practice approach to implement strategies that contribute to improvement.
* High quality communication skills to build understanding of the practicalities of improvements to ensure uptake of whole school, targeted and intensive improvement strategies and initiative.

Eligibility requirements

* You must be a permanent employee of the department with a substantive teaching or classified officer role employed under Teaching in State Education Award - State 2016, have current full registration as a teacher and should be aware that temporary internal moves for the purposes of the department's payroll processes are referred to as internal secondments. * Travel, including overnight stays, to various locations will be required as part of this role. The successful applicant will be based at one of following DDSW regional offices: Toowoomba, Roma, Kingaroy or Warwick.
