Key Job Responsibilities
Systems Engineers at AWS dive deep into understanding the root cause of customer issues, investigate why metrics trend incorrectly, and consult with senior engineers. We own our services and strive to make out‐of‐hours support painless by implementing operational excellence best practices and automating manual processes.
Systems Engineers possess a broad range of skills utilising Linux for troubleshooting, innovating fixes, keeping software up‐to‐date, and providing data and metrics for capacity and efficiency. They may draw on networking knowledge to identify and troubleshoot connectivity issues, communicate clearly, collaborate with others, and deliver results. They are self‐starters, comfortable dealing with ambiguity and change, and customer‐obsessed, always seeking to resolve pain points quickly and completely.

You will review operational health, write actionable bug reports, execute changes following a change‐management process, resolve backlog issues, and write scripts to accelerate root‐cause analysis. You will also participate in on‐call rotations to resolve incidents happening out of hours.
