We are seeking a Benchman to join our team at Uki Sawmill.
Experience in the timber industry would be a bonus however we understand our trade and finding a skilled Benchman so will provide full training for the right applicant.
We are looking for a team player that is reliable and not afraid of manual labour in this role.
A background in construction or similar would definitely suit.
We are Australian Owned and Operated hardwood sawmill specialising in sustainable Australian timber for building materials, landscaping, fencing and furniture.
The Benchman is responsible for preparing timber products ensuring they meet quality standards and specification. The ideal candidate will possess technical skills and experience with woodworking, machinery and commitment to safety and quality.
Responsibilities/ training provided in this role;
- Operate M A Smith one man bench
- Cut and dock lumber to specs
- Timber species ID
- Operate Canadian (break down saw)
- Log yard operations
- Chainsaw operations
- Operate Loader (ticket not required)
- Sharpening saws (circular knowledge of gold Smith sharpening machine)
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment
- Collaborate with team members
- Car and licence
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $75,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
