The Senior Underground Mine Surveyor is responsible for the day‑to‑day leadership, management, and direction of the survey function while providing support to the technical services team. We are seeking an experienced Senior Underground Mine Surveyor to join the Mining Technical Services team on an 8/6 FIFO roster. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you'll be responsible for providing day‑to‑day leadership and direction of a high‑performing surveying team and support to the technical services team.
What You'll Do
* Lead all survey activities and manage the survey team.
* Ensure survey data integrity and calculations comply with mine plans.
* Ensure all end‑of‑month surveys and reports are completed to an appropriate level of accuracy and timeliness.
* Ensure statutory survey reporting and plans as required under the WA Mines Act and Regulations remain up to date.
* Maintain and calibrate survey equipment.
* Perform underground survey activities, including survey mark‑up of planned development, planned drilling & diamond drilling, development pickups, stope void surveying and check surveys as the mine development advances.
* Provide surface surveying, including stockpile and dump pickups, surface excavation pickups and surface prism monitoring.
* Prepare and maintain the mine's emergency plans.
* Operate mine drone for monthly surface survey pickups.
* Promote a safe workplace and culture.
What We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science (Surveying).
* At least 8 years of experience in mechanised hard‑rock underground mining in a similar role.
* Authorised Mine Surveyor's Certificate of Competency – Grade 1, issued by the WA Department of Mines and Petroleum.
Highly Desirable:
* Proficiency with mine surveying software, with advanced level experience using Surpac or Deswik.
* Previous experience working with mining contractors.
* Demonstrated leadership experience and team‑building capability.
* Awareness of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations.
* High level of attention to detail – must be able to work in the detail without losing focus on the overall objective.
