Job Overview
The Trade Assistant role is a key position in our organization, responsible for supporting Tradespeople in the Piping and Mechanical department.
This challenging role requires an individual with strong skills and knowledge to assist with the manufacture and installation of vessel systems and components, including piping systems, HVAC ducting, and mechanical equipment.
* Assist tradespeople with sophisticated piping and mechanical installations on naval and army ships.
* Use hand tools and power tools safely and competently.
* Maintain high standards of safety and quality at all times.
* Ensure work areas are clean and tidy at all times.
* Collect and prepare materials as required.
* Operate a forklift to deliver, organize, unload, and dispatch parts around workshops.
* Work in confined spaces and as a confined space watch.
* Perform fire watch duties when necessary.
Requirements
* Prior experience working in a similar environment is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of hand and power tools is essential.
* Effective communication skills and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment are critical.
* Certificate II Engineering or equivalent qualification is highly regarded.
* A Construction safety induction (White Card) and High risk work licence (Forklift) are mandatory.
