At Hobart Women's Shelter, we're entering an exciting period of growth and transformation, and we're looking for a compassionate, strategic, and values-driven leader to join us as our new Deputy CEO. This role offers a potential succession pathway to the CEO position, with mentoring and professional development built in to strengthen your leadership skills and position you for future opportunities, including the possibility of stepping into the CEO role when the time is right.
What You Will Be Doing
Provide strategic and operational leadership across the organisation
Partner with the CEO and Board on long-term strategy and transformation
Lead with compassion and purpose to deliver lasting outcomes for women and children
Drive excellence in people leadership, service delivery, and social impact
Be supported to grow your capability and confidence as a future executive leader
This is a full-time role, or a minimum 30 hours per week; we're open to flexible work patterns to attract the right person.

Experience and Qualifications
Minimum of three (3) years' relevant experience in a similar leadership role
Tertiary qualifications in business management, quality management, community services, leadership or related discipline
General Requirements

Current Driver's Licence
Working with Vulnerable People Check
Current Police Check
IT proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, client databases and cloud-based technologies, or the ability to learn these packages
The position carries a six (6) month probation period

Selection Criteria
Minimum of three years' experience in a similar senior leadership role, with the ability to contribute strategically and act as CEO in her absence
Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and support teams in a trauma-informed, values-driven environment, fostering a positive organisational culture that prioritises staff wellbeing, professional growth, and high-quality service delivery
Demonstrated experience in developing, reviewing, and maintaining organisational policies and procedures in line with legislative, regulatory, and accreditation requirements, with a strong understanding of quality management principles and continuous improvement frameworks
Proven ability to oversee the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programs/services to ensure they are trauma-informed, outcomes-focused, and aligned with strategic objectives, funding requirements, and the needs of women and children experiencing homelessness and family violence
Demonstrated understanding of governance principles, including experience in preparing reports, tenders, and strategic papers to inform Board decision-making and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations
Experience in financial governance and oversight, including understanding budgets, funding agreements, risk management, and reporting to senior leadership or Boards
Demonstrated experience managing and maintaining a quality management system, conducting audits, liaising with Auditors or the ability to quickly develop these skills
High-level written, verbal and interpersonal skills, including experience engaging with diverse stakeholders
