You will report to a Client Manager and work in a team with other Accountants, Senior Accountants, and Supervisors. Your position title will be Junior or Undergraduate Accountant.
We are looking for this position to be part time, for example 2 or 3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation and filing of individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns.
* Work closely with clients to gather necessary information and documents for tax return preparation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
* Conduct tax research and assist in developing tax planning strategies to optimize clients' tax positions.
* Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
* Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements and related reports.
* Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
* Always follow Firm policies and procedures.
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.
* Liaise with the ATO and other regulatory bodies on behalf of clients when requested.
* Handle compliance and administrative tasks, including client record maintenance and data entry.
* Liaise with clients to answer queries, provide regular updates, and proactively request documents and information to ensure that jobs are completed promptly.
* Accurately complete a detailed timesheet each week.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (either completed or currently working towards).
* 1 - 2 years of experience in public accounting or tax preparation is preferred but not required.
* Familiarity with tax software (e.g., Xero) will be advantageous but not required.
* Ability to meet deadlines and produce accurate work.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
