Position Description:
St Thomas More Catholic Primary School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Assistant Principal to join our vibrant school community.

As a single-stream Catholic primary school located in the beautiful Margaret River region, we are committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment that fosters the spiritual, academic and personal growth of our students.
Key responsibilities include:
• Support the Principal in the overall leadership and management of the school.
• Promote and uphold the Catholic ethos and values of the school.
• Lead and manage curriculum development and implementation.
• Foster a positive and collaborative school culture.
• Oversee student welfare and behaviour management.
• Engage with parents, the parish and the wider community.
• Contribute to staff professional development and performance management.

Selection Criteria
Catholic Identity
• Demonstrates expertise in integrating Catholic faith, ethos and mission across all aspects of school life, while leading staff faith formation, theological reflection and the celebration of Catholic traditions, liturgies, prayer and Sacramental preparation.
• Actively collaborates with the Parish Priest and parish community to strengthen parish–school relationships, promote Christian outreach, fundraising and social justice, and ensures Religious Education is delivered with fidelity to CEWA guidelines through ongoing staff support and professional learning.
Education
• Provides leadership in curriculum planning, assessment and reporting, ensuring evidence-based practices, whole-school consistency and high expectations for learning, while fostering a safe, inclusive and positive environment that supports student wellbeing.
• Leads staff professional growth through targeted professional learning, coaching and mentoring, with a focus on pedagogy, engagement, innovation, classroom management and positive behaviour support.
Community:
• Builds strong, respectful relationships with parents, parish and the wider community, fostering engagement in the learning and life of the school.
• Provides pastoral care and wellbeing support, including during times of crisis, ensuring students and families feel safe, supported and connected.
Stewardship:
• Administrative and strategic expertise in implementing governance and system requirements to guide and support staff in creating thriving and safe learning environments that supports and fosters student faith, learning and wellbeing.
• Oversees the effective management of school operations, events and communications, while supporting staff development and fostering strong connections between the school and families.

Qualifications Required:
Minimum four year tertiary qualification (Education)
Accreditation to Lead in a Catholic School (or willingness to attain this)
