Primary objective

Provide administration and classroom-based support to the teaching staff. In collaboration with the Early Childhood Teachers

(ECTs), contribute to the implementation of educational programs within the school. Document and evaluate children's learning

and liaise daily with families and community.

Context statement

Sadadeen Primary School is a unique urban primary school catering for students from Preschool to Year 6. 95% of the students

who attend Sadadeen are Aboriginal, with many language groups represented. Positive engagement of student learning is enhanced

by a focus on the creative arts, child-centred practice across the school and working actively with our school community and

relevant agencies in the wider community to deliver programs supporting the wellbeing of our students. Sadadeen School supports

cultural diversity and understanding. Sadadeen school encompasses the primary school, two preschools, one onsite and one offsite

and the KITES program.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Under the direction of teaching staff, prepare the classroom resources as required.

2. Under the direction of teaching staff, assist with the supervision and instruction of students in classrooms and in extracurricular

activities including sports, excursions, and special days.

3. Organise, evaluate, and document children's wellbeing/learning in collaboration with a team of educators, and liaise with

families regarding progress.

1. Administer first aid and provide asthma and anaphylaxis treatment and/or attend to sick children, as necessary.
2. Relating and being sensitive to the needs of school age children to assist with their social, emotional, and physical development.
3. Under the direction of the Teacher in Charge, manage the administrative tasks.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. A Cert III or IV approved Early Childhood qualification that meets the requirements of the National Quality Standards.

2. A Senior First Aid Certificate or equivalent qualification or ability to obtain.

3. Demonstrated ability to perform administrative tasks including good oral and written communication skills; understand and

contribute to meeting the requirements of the National Quality Framework; work as part of a team to implement the principles

and practices of the Early Years Learning Framework and the Northern Territory Preschool Curriculum.

1. Demonstrated proven experience working with young children in a supportive school/day-care environment.
2. The ability to work and positively interact with others as part of a team in a cross-cultural environment.
3. Ability to work unsupervised and with initiative and observe confidentiality.

Desirable

Knowledge and experience working with the Northern Territory Preschool Curriculum.

Further information

The successful applicant must have no significant criminal record confirmed by a Police Criminal History check and have, or be in

the process of obtaining, a current Working with Children Card and current First Aid Certificate.
