The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides strategic leadership and overall management of the organisation to develop and deliver high quality, industry-focused vocational education and training programs. The CEO is responsible for developing and implementing the Organisation's strategic plan, ensuring financial sustainability, maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, and leading a committed team to achieve the Academy's vocational education and training mission and values.
As Company Secretary, the CEO also has responsibility for reporting to the Board on any matters of significance related to the operation of the Academy and ensuring that the Board meets its KPIs.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
* Develop, implement, and monitor the Academy's strategic development plans in alignment with its vocational education and training mission.
* Drive innovation in training development and delivery to meet emerging industry vocational education and training needs.
* Advise the Board on key trends, risks, and opportunities affecting the Academy's mission and sustainability.
Operational Management
* Oversee daily operations to ensure compliance with all legislative, regulatory, and contractual obligations, particularly the 2025 Registered Training Organisation (RTO) standards.
* Lead the development of operational policies, procedures, and systems that support effective delivery and continuous improvement of vocational education and training programs.
* Ensure effective risk management processes are in place.
* Oversee financial operations to maintain accountability, transparency, and viability.
* Identify and secure funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships.
Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy
* Build and maintain strong relationships with funding bodies, industry stakeholders, and government agencies.
* Represent the organisation as an effective advocate for industry vocational education and training.
* Promote the Organisation's profile and reputation within South Australia and beyond.
People and Culture
* Lead and inspire a diverse team to foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing vocational education and training culture.
* Oversee workforce development and professional growth initiatives in the area of vocational education and training.
* Ensure a safe working environment that reflects organisational values.
Selection Criteria
* Proven experience in a senior leadership role within the not for profit, vocational education and training sector.
* Demonstrated success in strategic planning.
* Strong knowledge of the vocational education and training sector, including regulatory compliance requirements for RTOs.
* Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to influence, negotiate, and build effective partnerships.
* A collaborative leadership style with the ability to motivate and engage teams.
* High-level problem solving and decision making abilities.
* Relevant qualifications in vocational education and training, or a related field.
* Experience with innovative training delivery systems development and application.
* Experience working with government funding contracts and reporting frameworks.
* Experience in Maritime and/or Fishing Industries.
* Experience managing an RTO.
