About the Role
At Aptella, we believe that innovation thrives when it's driven by diverse perspectives. We're currently looking for a Field Service Technician to join our team in Balcatta on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting to the Field Service Manager, this role offers a great mix of hands-on technical work and customer engagement. You'll play a key part in installing and supporting Machine Control Systems and site solutions, including 2D/3D automation, machine payload weighing, and machine safety systems. While most of your work will be completed onsite, there may be times when you provide remote or phone-based support as well. This role offers autonomy, variety, and the chance to work with emerging technology in a supportive and collaborative environment. What You'll Be Doing
* Install machine control systems and equipment (onsite and in the workshop)
* Calibrate and commission machine systems and attachments
* Diagnose issues and provide technical support and troubleshooting
* Service and maintain systems to ensure peak performance
* Train customers to get the most out of their equipment
What We're Looking For
We understand that great technicians come from a variety of paths. If you don't meet every requirement but are keen to learn and passionate about what we do, we'd love to hear from you.
* A trade qualification as an Auto Electrician, Heavy Diesel Mechanic, or Light Vehicle Mechanic is highly regarded, but not essential
* A strong mechanical aptitude, with the ability to problem-solve and adapt
* Confidence in working with electrical and hydraulic systems
* Good communication and organisation skills to engage effectively with customers and teammates
* A proactive mindset with a focus on safety, quality, and outcomes
* Basic computer literacy and the ability to learn new software
* Ability to work independently with support when you need it
Nice to Have (But Not Required)
* Experience with heavy equipment repairs (mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic)
* Exposure to mobile plant or machine control systems
* An understanding of surveying techniques and technologies
* A keen interest in technology and innovation

* A current Australian Driver's Licence (car)
