Role
To provide Physiotherapy services to individual children with disabilities within the environment of Sunbury and Macedon Ranges Specialist School and to support the staff and families in providing the best possible educational/therapeutic outcomes for each student.
Responsibilities
Work as a team member with the teaching and therapy staff and implement a trans disciplinary approach to service delivery for children / students and their families.
To conduct appropriate assessments of students and management of students physical developmental skills.
To provide written and verbal feedback/reports on assessments os students including those required as documentation for new applications for the Program for Students with Disabilities.
To work collaboratively with teaching staff and parents to develop appropriate goals for positioning mobility and gross motor activities, which respect individual styles and acknowledge strengths and capabilities.
To access and prescribe equipment as appropriate for use at school, home and in the community and to source and apply for funding support as required.
To provide group and individual physiothaerapy programs within the school environment as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
To work collaboratively with other professionals including therapists and teaching staff within the multi-disciplinary team.
To liase with service providers, welfare agencies and other relevant professionals as required for ongoing management of student referral.
To attend staff and therapy team meetings etc as required.

Location Profile
Sunbury and Macedon Ranges Specialist School is a dual campus Specialist School that provides a quality educational program for students with disabilities across both campuses. The Primary Campus is located in Sunbury and supports students from Prep to Grade 6 and the Secondary Campus is located in Bullengarook and supports students from years 7 to 12. Around 50% of our students have a diagnosis of Autism as well as their intellectual disability.
Students enrolled have increased significantly over the past few years and we have an enrolment of over 260 students.
Students are supported by 38 teaching staff and 50 full time EFT of education support staff.
Our school motto is "to empower our students towards independence through a command of language, mobility and social competency." This is reflected in the programs that are offered in the school that include Art, Physical Education, Materials Technology, Swimming, Health and Human Relations and Riding for the Disabled. VET Programs that include woodwork, ICT and horticulture in the lower secondary years of school prepare students for the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning that is offered at Foundation level for students in their final years of schooling.
An allied health team comprising Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist and Performing Arts Therapist supports students further to achieve goals established in their Individual Education Plans
