About The Role

As a Aerospace/Mechanical Design Engineer at Boresight, you will be responsible for the research, design, manufacture, test and evaluation of mechanical systems found within Boresight’s current and future UAS products. This is a full‑time position based at Boresight’s engineering office in Fyshwick, Canberra. The position is open to graduate or early‑career Aerospace or Mechanical engineers. You MUST be an Australian Citizen to be considered for this role.

Role Responsibilities

- Generate and own CAD models of UAV components and systems.
- Prepare technical documentation, including manufacturing drawings and assembly procedures, user and maintenance manuals, test procedures and reports.
- Use rapid prototyping tools and methodologies to build and test mechanical components and test jigs. This includes operating 3D printers, laser cutters and the use of hand‑tools.
- Perform structural and performance testing of mechanical systems including propulsion systems (ESCs, motors and propellers).
- Liase with material and component suppliers to coordinate production of Boresight mechanical systems.
- Liaise with the wider engineering team to develop, improve and validate mechanical designs.
- Contribute to development discussions and reviews from concept to productisation of Boresight’s range of UAVs.

Essential Qualifications

- Bachelor of Engineering (Aerospace or Mechanical)
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to work in a agile environment with multiple priorities
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience with CAD design (parts, subsystems and assemblies)
- Materials engineering theory and application
- Hold/obtain a minimum Baseline security clearance (must be an Australian citizen)

Desired Qualifications

- Experience with UAVs in either a professional, educational or hobby environment
- Experience with 3D printing and other rapid prototyping tools
- Experience with engineering computing such as MATLAB, Python or C++
- Remote pilot licence (RePL)

- This role requires the successful candidate to utilise cutting‑edge manufacturing equipment for the rapid development/testing cycle of Boresight’s UAVs and as such is based in Canberra. Note that you must be able to obtain/hold an AGSVA security clearance for this position.
