About the role
Based in the operations team, you will be the core driver of daily service delivery. You'll lead a team of four Allocators to ensure the efficient allocation of our busy fleet, overseeing the daily activities of the high‐paced operations team.
This hands‐on role is perfect for a natural problem‐solver, with strong communication skills and a customer‐first mindset. You will be responsible for providing essential guidance and support to front‐line staff, ensuring safety standards are met, and resolving operational issues proactively.
Duties and responsibilities
Fleet Allocation & Routing
* Master Scheduling and Dispatch: Assign daily jobs for drivers and vehicles, planning and managing transport operations to meet safety and delivery goals.
* Route Planning and Optimisation: Optimize routes and schedules to improve efficiency, productivity and safety, maximizing daily completion of services and ensuring timely deliveries.
* Communication and Coordination: Liaise with drivers and internal departments to ensure smooth operations, communicating clear instructions.
Performance & Compliance
* Real‐time Monitoring: Oversee service delivery in real time, ensuring route completion and compliance with break times, tracking driver attendance, fatigue and other statuses.
* End‐of‐Day Debriefs: Conduct reviews of timelines, breaks and service performance. Monitor and obtain KPIs and productivity goals.
* Reporting and Analysis: Generate and review operational reports for internal and external stakeholders, requiring strong administrative and reporting capabilities.
Driver Development
* Oversee inductions and training programmes for drivers, and provide guidance and support to front‐line staff.
Team Support and Management
* Assist the Operations Manager in leading the team and driving performance, supervising, coaching and providing work instructions to achieve goals.
Incident Management
* Assist in incident management, including retrieving footage and conducting follow‐ups and resolving issues arising during operations.
Operational Excellence
* Proactive Problem‐Solving: Identify and resolve operational issues, being solution‐oriented.
* Vehicle Maintenance and Repair: Organise and track vehicle repairs and maintenance, working with vendors.
* Continuous Improvement: Monitor and analyze dispatch performance metrics to identify improvement areas, optimising delivery schedules and implementing efficiency and customer‐satisfaction strategies.
What You Bring
* Proven Leadership: Minimum of 3 years in fast‐paced operations, logistics, dispatch, transport coordination or fleet management environment.
* Operational Expertise: Strong understanding of service scheduling and dispatch, knowledge of Brisbane areas, ability to prioritise and manage time effectively, solution‐oriented problem‐solving skills.
* Communication & Focus: Excellent communication skills, customer‐first mindset, high attention to detail, solid administrative and reporting capabilities.
* Industry Experience: Experience in resource recovery or environmental services considered highly regarded.
