Role Overview
The Area Data Risk Leader serves as the primary link between the Global Data Risk function and EY's business units.
This role involves driving the execution of global initiatives across the Super Regions of the Area and ensuring local data risk priorities are incorporated into global models.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an experienced data protection or compliance professional with a passion for technology and data risk.
Responsibilities include facilitating operational implementation of data risk best practices across various functions and locations, with a strong understanding of relevant regulatory frameworks.
The leader should be a collaborative influencer within cross-functional teams, capable of guiding data risk decisions within Super Regions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the implementation of global data risk programs within local teams to ensure consistency, develop best practices, and coordinate strategic activities, including:
Evaluating local deviations from global Data Policies and Standards to enhance overall consistency.
Identifying and assessing data risks at various levels through global and local evaluations.
Reviewing controls and mitigation activities in collaboration with relevant teams.
Promoting the adoption of tools and processes for data governance across the data lifecycle.
Managing data risks in third-party relationships, including vendors and acquisitions.
Enhancing data incident prevention and detection, including insider threat deterrence.
Operationalizing tools and processes to empower the first line of defense in managing data risks.
Supporting the safe and effective use of data in AI and technological innovations.
Representing local data risk priorities at the global level and contributing to policy development.
Analyzing data incidents to identify root causes and improve controls.
Defining guardrails for data use to meet regulatory and risk appetite requirements.
Ensuring local relevance of global training and communication materials.
Monitoring and improving data risk maturity within the Area, including skills development.
Championing data risk awareness and cultivating a risk-aware culture.
Engaging with risk and business leaders to align data risk strategies and initiatives.
Supporting EY professionals across service lines in compliance with data protection standards.
Maintaining collaborative relationships with functions like GCO, Information Security, and Technology.
Providing leadership for the SR Data Stewards within the Area.
