Tell me about this role:
In this role, you will deliver a Future Lead-In Fighter System (FLIFS) inclusive of aircraft, simulators, facilities, ground support equipment, and training materials. The FLIFS system will replace the existing Introductory Fighter Course (IFC) and Introductory Fighter Course - Air Combat Officer (IFC-A) systems at 79 Squadron and 76 Squadron and will train fast jet (combat) aircrew to the point where they commence conversion training to front line combat aircraft.
You will work under limited direction from the Project Manager and Team Lead to manage an engineering team in the performance and achievement of moderately complex systems engineering tasks in the delivery of FLIFS. You will be comfortable liaising with Subject Matter Experts as well as stakeholders at all levels and provide a point of contact for engineering enquiries. You will have the ability to travel as required to attend meetings/reviews.
This position is full time and required to be onsite at Russell Offices, Canberra.
What will I be doing day to day?
* Developo high quality, reliable, capability documentation and artefacts
* Amend/update and reproduce a legacy Operational Concept Document (OCD) from the former Future Lead-in Fighter Training System
* Manage a team in the production of Functional Performance Specifications (FPS) and Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP)
* Minimise or eliminate capability risks, and resolve complex issues through active management of project team, Subject Matter Experts (SME) and stakeholders
* Provide clear and concise direction to the project team in Engineering Design Reviews of the vendor's solutions
* Provide ongoing mentoring, training and professional development of the project team, including maturing staff knowledge and skills in project delivery
* Provide direction to the engineering component of the tender evaluations
* Participate in design reviews of tender's product development
Who we’re Looking For:
You are highly regarded Engineering Manager who has demonstrated experience in both leading and mentoring a team of System Engineers in the production of, the Functional Performance Specifications (FPS) and Test & Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP). You will have to ability to provide ongoing professional development, support and up skill in the systems engineering domain. You will possess strong written, presentation and communication skills and are confident working collaboratively with senior stakeholders.
You will have prior experience working in both Aircraft Acquisition and the CASG environment and are comfortable interpreting policy, managing and mitigating risk, and providing clear advice whilst delivering planned products on-time and to a high quality within the Aerospace Domain.
What sort of skills do I need?
* Degree qualifications in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar
* Demonstrated knowledge of Capability Development, Functional Performance Specifications and Risk Management/Mitigation
* Capability Acquisition and Sustainment (CASG) and Aircraft Acquisition experience is essential
* Strong organisational and service writing skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
* Australian citizenship, NV1 clearance minimum, ITAR compliance
