A Medical Laboratory Technician plays a vital role in the blood bank environment, performing laboratory investigations and tests to ensure accurate results.
The ideal candidate will have a Diploma in Laboratory Technology or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution with subjects relevant to pathology or medical laboratory operations.
* Responsibilities include performing a range of laboratory investigations and tests (manual and automated) by applying established methods and procedures
* Undertake other laboratory duties including preparation of materials and maintenance of equipment in line with established laboratory processes, procedures, and protocols
The successful candidate will also possess experience in the delivery of Transfusion/Blood Bank pathology services within a discipline relevant to the department, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems, and Quality Systems.
They must be able to work in a responsible and efficient manner, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
