**Our Opportunity**
The Management Accounting Section plays an integral role in the effective and efficient management of resourcing across the department and provides trusted advice on financial matters. It is responsible for managing the internal budget process from the development of the budgets through to monitoring, forecasting and reporting results. The team fulfils these important tasks through effective regular liaison with divisions within the department.
People working within the Management Accounting Section are expected to be flexible with the ability to manage competing priorities and complete tasks within tight deadlines.
This work includes the following areas of priority:
Work with the Division Head and Branch Heads to assist them in fulfilling their financial management responsibilities, by:

- providing advice on the management of internal budgets
- explaining variances from budget
- providing expenditure and revenue forecasts, and
- providing advice, monitoring and assessing compliance with the Commonwealth financial framework and the Department's financial practices

With support from the Business Manager, provide regular advice to the Division Heads and Branch Heads on financial matters such as:

- financial risks to the budget
- workforce planning, including the affordable staff profile.
- entry of Internal budgeting and forecasting

**Who are we looking for?**

Specific requirements of the role:
We are seeking a motivated and high performing individual who has a wide variety of skills, including:

- ability to develop and maintain relationships with business unit staff, particularly senior management, as well as stakeholders in the Financial Services Branch of the Division
- ability to manage and meet a variety of regular and ad-hoc reporting deadlines
- strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information in a concise manner
- demonstrated personal drive and integrity
