Lead a once‑in‑a‑generation national capability and join us to help shape Australia’s nuclear‑powered future. The Australian Submarine Agency (ASA) is seeking dynamic, highly experienced senior executives with engineering, technical, or nuclear expertise to guide some of the nation’s most critical and complex capability areas as we deliver nuclear‑powered systems and the infrastructure that enables them. As a senior executive within the ASA, you will provide strategic leadership and executive oversight across a portfolio of sovereign nuclear‑powered submarine programs or similarly complex Defence capability streams. Your leadership will directly shape outcomes that are safe, operationally effective, internationally compliant, and aligned with Government and Defence priorities. Reporting to a Head of Division, you will: Lead major programs and senior leaders through complex, high‑tempo delivery Set strategic direction for multi‑billion‑dollar national capabilities Build and grow the workforce and organisational capability needed for nuclear stewardship Forge trusted relationships with Australian and international partners—including trilateral partners, industry leaders, and regulatory bodies This is a role of national importance, offering the opportunity to influence Australia’s long‑term nuclear‑powered submarine capability. It requires exceptional judgement, executive presence, and deep expertise in delivering complex or nuclear‑related programs. Experience in nuclear shipbuilding, submarine sustainment, or regulated nuclear environments—whether through qualifications, program leadership, or regulatory engagement—is highly desirable.
