About RSPCA Victoria:

RSPCA Victoria is a non-government, community-based, not-for-profit organisation whose vision is 'ending cruelty to all animals'. We are Victoria's best-known and most respected animal welfare organisation.

Our organisation's purpose is to work with the community to achieve outstanding animal welfare through education, advocacy, and animal care and protection. RSPCA Victoria's values - clarity and accountability, respect and consideration, and expertise and collaboration - set clear expectations for all our staff and volunteers.

About the role:

Our Peninsula Veterinarians and nurses are responsible for the provision of quality veterinary services for shelter animals, contributing to achieve the best possible welfare outcome for every animal in our care.

You will be working as part of a team alongside experienced Veterinarians, Nurses and Animal Attendants. We have a strong emphasis on team culture, work life balance and mental health. By far, one of the best aspects is working alongside likeminded individuals who are dedicated to speaking up on behalf of the underdogs (and cats, and exotics) of the animal world.

What we are looking for from you:

* Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent) with a minimum of 2 years' clinical experience.
* Demonstrated commitment to continual professional development and evidence of ongoing learning.
* Proven ability to work confidently across wards, theatre and consults.
* Experience in inpatient care, including TPRs, medication administration and patient monitoring.
* Hands-on experience in surgical nursing, including patient preparation, recovery and instrument sterilisation.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with veterinarians, nurses and support teams.
* High-level customer service skills, including compassionate communication and grief support
* Ability to manage a diverse and often high caseload in a fast-paced hospital environment
* Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and adherence to clinical protocols
* Confident, calm and safe animal handling skills across a variety of shelter patients.

What we can offer you:

Here at RSPCA, you will be enabled to follow through the patient's plan, incorporating shelter medicine into your skill set enabling you to see a patient and follow their journey from surrender or stray to post-op care to adoptions and all the odd bits in-between.

Our nurses are protected by an enterprise agreement. This can be located on the fair work website.

* Access to our Employee and Volunteer Assistance Program (EVAP)
* Discount on products and services, including Royal Canin pet food, Hush Puppies and RSPCA Victoria retail products.

Qualifications and other requirements

* Victorian driver's licence
* Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
* Evidence of current tetanus vaccination required.
* Willingness to undergo a National Police Check.
