Tasmanian Bakeries is a proudly Australian-owned pastry manufacturing business based in Hobart, best known for our National Pies brand.
Due to significant growth, we are seeking a proactive and capable Maintenance Technician to join our team in Hobart. Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, the Key Responsibilities for this role include:
- Completing JSAs and Work Completion Records in line with company WHS and QA requirements.
- Undertaking routine tasks in accordance with the preventative maintenance schedule.
- Undertaking ad-hoc and emergency repairs to plant and equipment as required.
- Detecting and reporting the need for major maintenance repairs.
- Maintaining the facility and grounds in good and sound condition.
- Providing supervision and support to works conducted by external contractors.
- Managing and cataloguing critical spare parts.
- Contributing to other maintenance works as required.

Skills and Attributes:
Required:
- General maintenance person skills, ability to work with hardware, tools and power equipment.
- Competency in general repairs and maintenance, i.e. painting, small building repairs, concreting, plastering.
- A sound understanding of mechanical and machinery works.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with an aptitude for problem solving.
- A willingness to be flexible and work across various shifts.
- Ability to form working relationships with people across the organisation.
- Effective organisation skills.
- Continual improvement focus.
Desirable:
- Preferably a trade background in either electrical, mechanical, plumbing or engineering.
- General mechanical skills, ability to work with hardware tools and power equipment safely.
- A good understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and compressed air systems.
- Competency in general maintenance activities and capable of adapting to a changing environment and priorities.
- Good understanding of food hygiene standards.
