About The Role:
As a Shift Manager at our Smithton Plant, you'll play a critical leadership role in driving production performance, safety, and quality across your shift. You'll lead a team of operators and work cross-functionally to ensure operational excellence, continuous improvement, and a strong safety culture.
What You'll Be Doing
* Leading the day-to-day operations of the production team, ensuring safety, quality, and performance targets are met
* Championing a strong health & safety culture, including incident investigations and proactive risk management
* Managing production planning and execution, ensuring accurate system transactions (SAP, WMS, Kronos)
* Driving continuous improvement and OEE ownership
* Ensuring compliance with food safety, HACCP, GMP, and quality systems
* Monitoring and improving operational metrics such as pack rate, downtime, waste, and schedule attainment
* Leading, coaching, and developing team members to build capability and engagement
* Managing labour resourcing, performance, and employee relations matters
* Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders (Quality, Agriculture, Training teams)
* Delivering effective shift handovers and clear communication across teams
What You'll Need To Be Successful
* Demonstrated experience leading teams in a manufacturing or production environment
* Strong knowledge of health, safety, and food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, sanitation practices)
* Proven ability to drive operational performance and continuous improvement initiatives
* Experience working with production systems (e.g. SAP, WMS) and strong data accuracy
* Strong leadership capability with a hands‐on, coaching style
* Sound problem‐solving and decision‐making skills in a fast‐paced environment
* Ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to operational challenges
* Solid communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Competence in computer systems, reporting, and numeracy
About The Team
You'll be part of the Smithton Plant production leadership team, reporting to the Production Manager and working closely with Quality, Operations, and support functions. This role leads a frontline production team and plays a key role in delivering site performance, building team capability, and embedding a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
