Woods Grain part of the WOODS group, is looking for a full time Production Manager to join their team in Goondiwindi, Queensland.Job summaryFlexible hours availableExpected salary: $85,000 - $95,000 per year1.
PURPOSE OF POSITIONTo manage and continuously improve the production processes and employees of Woods Grain, and ensure the effective and productive utilisation of Woods Group resources in the manufacture and distribution of product to customer requirements, ensuring delivery in full, on time and within specification.2.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIESManage and coordinate Grain cleaning, bagging, pulse splitting, flour production at Woods GrainParticipate in the establishment of production strategies, goals and targets that optimise capacity and maximise throughput.Monitor production output against established goals and key performance indicators.Promptly identify deviations from production plans and implement plans to correct deviations and report significant or continued deviations to the Operations Manager.Organise and manage physical and human resources to achieve production plans.Manage staff activities and monitor their performanceImplement and coordinate occupational health and safety requirementsCoordinate the operation of production plant and quality procedures through planning of maintenance, designation of operating hours and supply of parts and toolsLiaise with all relevant internal stakeholders to achieve production goals.
This includes liaising with the Woods Grain Logistics and Planning staff and Woods Grain Operations Manager to ensure adequacy of raw materials supply.Participate in product development trials and research as required.In conjunction with the Operations Manager, plan for the taking of leave and approve leave in a timely mannerPrepare production records and reportsEstablish and maintain effective communication with all Woods Group company departments.Supervise Staff: Set, communicate and manage staff rosters to meet with legal, financial, workplace health and safety and production requirements.Supervise, coordinate and direct processing staff during operational activities.Review and approve employee timesheets on a daily basisEnsure that new staff are supervised and trained in the relevant operational procedures in accordance with the Woods Grain Training Plan.Ensure that grievance procedures are communicated and employed promptly to manage conflict.Ensure that disciplinary actions are implemented in accordance with Woods Group procedures.Escalate grievances, disciplinary matters and queries on employee conditions to the Operations Manager and the Group HR Manager3.
LIMITS ON AUTHORITYFinancialNil authority.DisciplinaryAdvise contractors and visitors of the Woods Group Food Safety and Health and Safety requirements where it is found that these are not being followed.Escalate disciplinary matters to the Operations Manager.OperationalStop process operations where the potential for product contamination exists and is likely to occur.Stop process operations or make adjustments to equipment when processes and outside critical limits.Stop any task or process where the risk to the health and safety of any person, or damage to property or environment is imminent.Identify raw material, work in progress or finished product as non-conforming and direct operational staff to manage this in accordance with the Woods Grain HACCP Plan and Woods Group Non-Conforming Product procedure.Send raw material, work in progress or finished product for reprocessing on approval from the Operations Manager Woods Grain.Act as an Authorised Officer under the Export Control Act 1982 and other subordinate legislation.Arrange for emergency repairs to plant and equipment.
Authorisation limited to Dillon Mechanical and O'Brien Electrical.Plan, schedule and roster staff within Woods Group budgetary guidelines.Arrange and schedule preventive maintenance repairs with Dillon Mechanical and O'Brien Electrical.SecurityWoods Grain Emerald key holderAccess to Woods Group intranet limited to certain subdirectories MEX Supervisor access.4.
TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREDEssentialQualifications and experienceDemonstrated experience in a manufacturing workplace.Demonstrated experience in operating equipment or machineryBachelors Degree in a Production or related fieldA minimum of twelve (12) months experience in a supervisory role.Demonstrated experience in supervision and training of operational staff.High-Risk Work Licence – LF - Forklift TruckOccupational Health & SafetyAn understanding and experience of obligations under the current health and safety legislation and its practical application in the workplace.Quality Assurance/Food SafetyAn understanding and experience of obligations under any food safety and/or quality management system standards and practical application in the workplace.DesirableExperienceExperience in packing and transporting Grain commodities.SkillsEssentialProfessionalism:Team Work: The ability to effectively contribute to the establishment, maintenance and success of work teams, focused on achieving individual, team and organisational goals.Leadership: The ability to create a shared understanding of requirements in the work environment and through influence, enable team members to fully contribute to team and corporate goals.Problem-solving skills:Ability to appropriately prioritise problems, gather and analyse the right information to identify symptoms and causes and identify the right people to involve to reach better conclusions.Enterprise:Continuous Improvement & Initiative: A proactive approach applied to the identification, analysis and exploration of opportunities that have the potential to improve the outcomes and performance of a specific work area or the organisation.Communication & Interpersonal Skills: The ability to effectively transfer ideas, concepts and information.
