The Opportunity
Western Sydney University is advancing its commitment to environmental leadership through the Western 2030 Securing Sustainability Action Plan. As Sustainability Program Manager, you will lead strategic programs that drive meaningful organisational change, embed climate‑ready systems, and strengthen our position as a sector leader in sustainability.
In this role, you will design, deliver, and govern cross‑institutional initiatives, working across Operations, Property and Commercial, Faculties, Research groups, and external partners. You will lead key areas including carbon transition programs such as the Electrification Roadmap, sustainability procurement frameworks, compliance readiness, and climate and nature risk assessments.
You will also steward our living lab ecosystem, enabling alignment between operational projects and teaching, research, and community collaboration. As a program manager, you will coordinate funded initiatives, guide reporting, oversee risk management, and support the methodologies and data foundations required for high‑quality sustainability delivery.
What Success Looks Like:
Lead high‑impact sustainability programs aligned with the Western 2030 Securing Sustainability Action Plan and Environmental Sustainability Action Plan.
Build collaborative sustainability initiatives with internal and external stakeholders.
Manage adaptation planning for climate and nature risks and carbon transition initiatives.
Build strong internal and external partnerships that enhance living lab engagement and sector collaboration.
Deliver accurate reporting, data stewardship, and communication of sustainability outcomes.

About You
Postgraduate qualifications or equivalent experience in environmental sustainability within a large, complex organisation.
Expertise across sustainability strategy, climate and nature risk, compliance, or environmental stewardship.
Proven ability to manage complex projects, funded programs, and multi‑stakeholder coordination.
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate sustainability insights into organisational action.
Demonstrated capacity to work independently and collaboratively in high‑impact, multi‑project environments.
